    Water Management Challenges Before Installing the Smart Irrigation System in Ooty

    Efficient irrigation is one of the biggest challenges for farmers in Ooty, where agriculture is carried out across steep hills and uneven landscapes. This Smart Irrigation System in Ooty was installed to help farmers manage water efficiently while reducing manual labor and improving irrigation accuracy.

    Before automation, farmers had to manually climb hills to open and close irrigation gate valves several times a day. Each irrigation cycle required nearly 30 minutes of manual effort, making irrigation difficult, especially during nighttime and unfavorable weather conditions.

    Due to the challenging terrain and limited water availability, maintaining consistent water distribution across different fields was difficult. Farmers wanted a reliable smart irrigation solution that could automate irrigation, save water, and reduce labor dependency.

    To overcome these challenges, farmers in Denaducombai Village, Ooty selected the Mobitech Smart Irrigation System. The goal was to automate water distribution, remotely control irrigation valves, and improve overall water management across the hilly farming region.

    The project initially included 15 automated irrigation valves. After experiencing the benefits of automation, the irrigation system was expanded to 50 automated valves, covering additional agricultural fields.
